WordPress migration and hosting transfer
Moving WordPress to another hosting provider or a new domain? We plan the migration with you, preserve the starting point and test your website in its new environment.
More than copying website files
A WordPress website needs both its files and database. PHP versions, server settings, redirects and connected services can also affect a migration. Before moving anything, we establish what needs transferring and whether the new hosting meets the requirements. Existing licences and integrations are reviewed within the agreed scope.
Changing the host, the domain or both?
A hosting transfer can keep the existing website address. A new domain or URL structure requires additional checks for internal links, media and redirects. We explain these differences before work starts. Email mailboxes are not automatically part of a WordPress migration: transferring them or keeping them with the existing provider needs a separate, explicit plan.
Our migration process
- Review the setup: We identify the website, hosting, domain and important functions.
- Back up: Files and database are preserved before the agreed changes.
- Transfer and test: We set up the website in the destination environment and test before switching where technically possible.
- Coordinate the switch: Timing, DNS changes and any necessary pause in editing are agreed.
- Check the live site: We review availability, HTTPS, forms and other agreed functions after the move.
Planning for shops and changing content
Orders, bookings and frequent edits require particular care with the final data transfer. We agree when to synchronise the latest changes and which activities should pause during that process. A fallback plan and the handling of the previous hosting are also discussed. Keep the old hosting until checks are complete and any other services running there have been accounted for.
Support after the move
A hosting change does not automatically fix every performance problem. If needed, we can follow up with WordPress speed optimization. Backups, updates and small changes can then be covered by an agreed maintenance plan. Send your current website address and the intended destination for an initial assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Can you guarantee zero downtime?
We plan to keep disruption as small as practical. DNS propagation, hosting conditions and data synchronisation mean uninterrupted operation cannot be promised for every migration.
Will my search rankings stay the same?
No provider can guarantee that. Preserving URLs or setting suitable redirects, maintaining availability and checking indexability are important parts of the technical plan.
How much does a migration cost?
Size, functionality and scope determine the effort. A domain change, shop or email transfer may need additional work. Costs are agreed before we begin.
